Ana Paula is Senior Foreign Legal Consultant to the firm.
She is admitted to practice law in Brasil and is admitted as a foreign legal consultant in New York. She is a consulting partner in a leading Brasilian law firm and also a Professor of Constitutional Law at Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) (the State University of Rio de Janeiro). Ana has more than 15 years experience advising and representing clients in both litigation and transactional matters, with a focus on telecommunications, infrastructure, energy, transportation, ports and navigation. She also represented clients in the areas of banking, insurance, sports, and internet services.
Ana Paula has advised Brasilian and foreign companies on government contracts and financing, and different aspects of compliance with Brasilian legislation (anti-corruption, administrative, regulatory, labor, environmental, anti-dumping and control of foreign investments) and has extensive experience in the Civil and Administrative Courts in Brasil, including class actions and representation of pharmaceutical companies.
Ana Paula graduated with a degree in law from UERJ where she also later earned a Masters degree in Public Law (honors, maxima cum laude) and a S.J.D. in Juridical Science. She recently concluded a postdoctoral research program at the Harvard School of Public Health.
In addition to her private practice, Ana Paula is also a Professor of Constitutional Law at UERJ and of the School of Magistrates, Escola de Magistratura do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (EMERJ), and a visiting lecturer of Candido Mendes University in Rio de Janeiro.
She has authored two books and numerous articles, and is a frequent Guest Lecturer at the Harvard School of Public Health and at the Yale School of Latin American Legal Studies in the United States.
